Understanding of temporal dynamics of tropical insect communities is hampered by the difficulty of disentangling population dynamics, timed phenology, migration and seasonal activity. Furthermore, there is a dearth of data on potential drivers of temporal dynamics, and on its consequences for ecosystem functioning. This article argues for collection of complementary data, and makes methodological recommendations.Keywords
